Course Info:
This kite landboard course takes you right from the beginning, first with a theory session which will cover wind and weather, site assessment, equipment, safety, the wind window and riding directions.
We will then take the kites and boards onto the fields and go through the safe and correct way to set up a powerkite.
It is then time to fly the kite, firstly safe launch and land and explanation and demonstration of the kite’s safety system which takes all the power out of the kite when the control bar is let go.
Once the kite is in the sky you will learn how to hold the control bar correctly and steer the kite around the sky, becoming confident with the ‘wind window’ and the power that can be created by moving the kite around in different areas of the sky.
Once you have mastered the kite and understand the wind window and how it can be used to create different amounts of power and pull in different directions we will then introduce the board.
We will set up a larger kite that will produce slightly more power to give us the pull for the board starts and using the kite to produce a smooth pull you will start moving on the board either left or right across the wind.
Once you are confident with the initial board start it is then onto continuous riding by producing a constant power delivery with the kite and off course learning how to stop!
As you start to develop your skills and are now riding up and down confidently, we will then introduce edging the landboard, travelling back upwind and then turning.
As with all kite sports there are rules of the road to allow riders to pass each other safely without becoming tangled up, you will also be taught these during the lesson.
All the necessary equipment is provided as part of the course and we have a huge range of kites in many different sizes to allow you have the optimal size and power for the conditions that day. Due to our huge range of sizes, we are able to teach in nearly any wind condition and the kites we use in the school are very stable and easy to use to maximise your progression.
You only need to bring a sturdy pair of shoes, sun cream, sunglasses and warm clothes if it’s cold, Jeans are recommended.
After your kite landboarding lessons you are probably hooked and want to continue the sport. If you feel you don’t yet want buy your own equipment, we also offer Power Kites and Landboards for rent per hour or per day. |
